"Seventeen seasons, not one of them has been sober," Weber joked to Brewers fans on the bus. "Most people are used to stand-up comedians. I do sit-down comedy, it's a lower level of expectations."
Bruce Weber
FOX6 rode on Weber's shuttle bus on Saturday, while he took fans from Kelly's Bleachers to American Family Field for the Brewers' first postseason game against the San Diego Padres.
When asked what made him want to start this job that he has now spent 17 years doing, Weber said: "Because they asked me." He said he initially started driving a van and upgraded to a bus. Now, he said he has definitely got a groove and a playful back-and-forth that people come to expect from him.
Fans and riders
What they're saying:
On one of Saturday's trips, a rider told Weber, "I saw you on Facebook." He responded, "You sure it wasn't a Playgirl magazine?" A comment met with laughs from others on the bus. Weber said these moments and interactions are what fuels him.
"I don't know if it's – I'm entertaining them, or if their feedback entertains me because everyone's here to have a good time," Weber said.
It is a similar feeling for those behind the white line.
"Amazing, so much fun entertaining, go Brewers," one Brewers fan said after getting off Weber's shuttle.
"Very entertaining, had a lot of fun," another Brewers fan said.
Commitment to his craft
Why you should care:
After nearly two decades, Weber said he has had almost perfect attendance.
"I haven't missed a year except for breaking my neck, probably took off 10 days in those 17 years," Weber said.
