Darrell Brooks serving sentence out of Wisconsin, DOC officials say

Darrell Brooks

The Wisconsin Department of Corrections (DOC) confirmed for FOX6 News that Darrell Brooks Jr., the man responsible for the Waukesha Christmas parade attack, was moved out of state on Monday, Jan. 13.

DOC officials said they are not able to share any further information on this change because of security concerns.

Darrell Brooks' sentence

The backstory:

Brooks was sentenced in November 2022 to life in prison after a jury convicted him on all 76 charges tied to the parade attack from a year earlier.

Brooks got life without extended supervision for each of the six first-degree intentional homicide charges after taking the lives of Jane Kulich, Jackson Sparks, Bill Hospel, Tamara Durand, Lee Owen and Virginia Sorenson.

On 61 counts of first-degree recklessly endangering safety, Waukesha County Judge Jennifer Dorow gave Brooks 12 ½ years of initial confinement, plus five years of extended supervision. That's 762 ½ years in prison.

On six counts of felony hit-and-run, Judge Dorow gave Brooks 15 years of initial confinement plus 10 years of extended supervision. That's 90 years in prison. On two counts of felony bail jumping, Dorow gave him three years of initial confinement and three years of extended supervision. That's six years.
