Milwaukee 2024 Holiday Drive celebration, donations support Meta House

It's the season of giving, and Milwaukee is doing its part with its annual Holiday Drive.

Teddy bears and board games are among the 900 toys that have been received as part of Milwaukee's 2024 Holiday Drive.

This year the drive is supporting the Meta House, a local non-profit that focuses on empowering women and families to overcome addiction.

The donations raised are aimed at helping families who are facing difficult times have a brighter season.

These efforts are part of a partnership between Milwaukee County, the City of Milwaukee, and the Brewers Community Foundation.

"Many of the moms that are receiving services at Meta House are at a place in their life where they just don't have the resources to provide gifts for their children," said Valerie Vidal, President and CEO of the Meta House. "So this really allows them to create long-lasting memories and that sense of holiday spirit with their kids."

"I want to thank everyone that contributed. It's because of your efforts that we have the ability to make a difference for Milwaukee County residents," said Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley.

The toys will be distributed to children in the next week.

Plenty of donated gifts

Milwaukee officials stress the importance of giving and supporting the community, not just during the holiday season, but year round.
