Riverwest camera store burglarized, Milwaukee police seek suspect

Milwaukee police are looking for the thief who stole tens of thousands of dollars worth of items from a vintage camera store early Friday morning, Dec. 13.

Caught On Camera

At Retrospekt in the city's Riverwest neighborhood, video captured the suspect going in and out several times. Police said it happened around 3:30 a.m.

In one clip, the suspect carried a box to a car. Video even showed them dragging a giant red sack full of merchandise.

What They're Saying

Kori Fuerst opened the store with her husband, Adam, 10 years ago. They carry a variety of things, including vintage cameras, vinyl and more.

"It’s a hard time to run a business right now in general, this kind of feels like a kick," she said.

Fuerst told FOX6 News they are still counting but, so far, confirmed $30,000 worth of merchandise was stolen.

"I know that times are hard for a lot of people right now, and it really is hurtful to feel targeted as a small business," she said.

Items sold at Retrospekt

Fuerst said, aside from the items stolen from the store, the thief took things money can't buy.

"An employee's personal property with memories and photos – that’s the one that hits the worst for us," she said.

What You Can Do

The owners think the items stolen stand out enough that someone might be able to spot them – and the thief.
