They tried to stop the driver, but the 24-year-old sped off.

Police went after him.

Officers say the man hit a marked police squad and another car in the process.

The chase lasted all the way to Milwaukee's King Park.

Police say the driver tried to escape and you can kind of see several muddy tire tracks zig-zagging, sloping down this hill. But when you get right there to the boulders, that's where it all came to an end.

Dee McCollum is the director of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center. She said the boulders were her idea.

"I knew they were going to catch the guy because he was coming through my park and there’s nowhere to exit once you come from the back of my park," McCollum said. "We put boulders lining this park so you can’t drive your car through my park and get out, so it worked real well for the police today because that’s what stopped him."

Witnesses say after crashing into the boulders, the man got out and ran. But police arrested him around the corner.

They say he was a felon who also had drugs and a gun.

Officers also arrested a 20-year-old female passenger.

Police say both the driver and the passenger were hurt in the crash. They were both treated.

No one else was hurt.
