
Donovan Long
Donovan Long is a three-time Emmy, Edward R. Murrow, and Michigan Association of Broadcasters award-winning journalist. He joined FOX6 WakeUp as a morning anchor in December 2024.
Long came to Milwaukee after working as a morning anchor/reporter for five years at the NBC affiliate in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He has also worked as a weekend evening anchor/reporter for both the CBS affiliate in Knoxville, Tennessee and the FOX affiliate in Albany, Georgia.
Long is a Tennessee native who earned a degree in Broadcast Journalism from Florida A&M University. That's where he cultivated his passion for storytelling.
Over the course of his career, he's covered the deadly Michigan State University shooting in 2023, the destruction of a violent tornado in West Michigan in 2023, the Oxford High school shooting in 2021, the civil and political unrest of 2020, the ongoing mental health crisis, the deadly Gatlinburg wildfires in 2016 and the deadly Zaevion Dobson shooting in 2015 that caught the attention of then President Obama and the ESPYs, among other notable moments in American history.
Long most enjoys telling stories of unsung heroes in their community, stories of triumph and of people who have overcome adversity.
When he’s not at work, Long spends time at the gym, running, going to concerts, throwing a football along the beach of Lake Michigan, spending time with loved ones and traveling.
He's a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and the National Association of Black Journalists.
