Man accused of murdering his child’s mother due in court

RACINE — The man accused of murdering his child’s mother and prompting an Amber Alert  is due back in court Friday, April 20. Iryin Vaughn has already pleaded not guilty to several charges including first-degree intentional homicide, causing mental harm to a child and bail jumping.

In court Friday, March 9, Vaughn entered his plea after giving up his right to a preliminary hearing. That allowed the case to go to trial.

Prosecutors say Vaughn stabbed his girlfriend, Gwynevere Wright, 25 times in the apartment they shared. They say he then took off with their two-year-old daughter. That prompted an Amber Alert. The girl was found unharmed in Illinois.
