Morning Breaking News Anchor

FOX6 News has a unique opportunity for an atypical News Anchor who has a knack for engaging the audience and presenting breaking news with authority, a bit of charm and a flair for innovation! As part of the team, you will not be taking on a traditional role.  You’ll be breaking stories and delivering impactful content that our community relies on not only on-air, but on digital and streaming too.  You’ll play a big role in providing content and hosting early afternoon digital programming.  In return FOX provides a stellar benefit package including 3 weeks’ vacation to start, amazing healthcare benefits and a very generous 401k package.      

Responsibilities

Digital Storytelling – Drive the delivery of fresh local, regional and national news content across all platforms, including on-air, online and streaming services. 

Innovative Content Creation – Research, create and present engaging stories that resonate with our audience utilizing cutting-edge digital tools and techniques.

Collaborative Production – Work closely with newsroom staff to produce informative and compelling news segments that push the boundaries of traditional broadcasting.

Qualifications

Experience – Minimum of three years of anchoring experience, preferably on a morning newscast

Education – A degree in Journalism or closely related field is preferred

Senior Producer - Morning News

Responsibilities

We will give you all the tools needed to build a creative, fast-paced newscast that viewers will flock to.  Graphics, yep, we have the best.  Strong newsgathering staff including award winning photographers and reporters, we have that too!  We need you to put it all together into something special that will stand out in this competitive market.  You will produce your own show and as a Senior Producer, you will support and collaborate with staff to ensure the highest quality of journalistic standards are met while continuing to uphold and advance station digital objectives.

Qualifications

Reporter

Photojournalist

Responsibilities

Not an office job!  As a FOX6 Photojournalist, your days will be anything but monotonous.  You’ll be in the field, teaming up with a reporter to chase breaking news and turning stories on a tight deadline.  You’ll be tasked with covering a local or professional sporting event or even going on your own to capture compelling weather video. You’ll flex your storytelling muscles with longform pieces that you are passionate about.  We will provide the equipment so you can capture the best sequences, natural sounds and moments to produce compelling stories that our viewers remember.     

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s Degree is strongly preferred
  • At least two years of Television News shooting experience, as well as technical knowledge of non-linear editing software, preferably Edius, and photo equipment
  • Must be physically able to lift, carry and handle 30 to 50 pounds of camera gear, and deal with the realities of a Wisconsin winter or summer
  • Position requires driving
  • Drone license preferred

Sports Content Producer

The primary focus of the position is on supporting the Sports department, however there is potential to appear on camera or in a podcast. We are a forward-thinking station that’s all about delivering captivating sports content on-air, digitally and streaming. We believe in the magic of a well-told sports story and will provide our producer with all the tools to create compelling content that will inform, excite, and entertain our audience.

What You’ll Do:

  • You will be responsible for uncovering local sports stories that inspire in our Beyond the Game series
  • You will be the mastermind behind a Sunday night sports roundtable show, which includes creating graphics, writing, producing and boothing each episode
  • You will craft special programming that resonates with Wisconsin sports fans
  • You will ensure top-notch coverage of all our local sports teams
  • You will be the architect behind the High School Blitz coverage, shooting and scripting material for on-air and digital
  • You will advocate for the Sports Department, pushing for story angles that the community cares about for both sports and news
  • You’ll be strategic and create enterprise content that is unique to FOX6 and FOX Local. You’ll think outside the box of ways to incorporate more sports coverage in all aspects of our business.

Qualifications

You must have a college degree (preferably in Journalism) with a minimum of two years producing experience working at a commercial television station. You must be a strong communicator (both written and verbally) and you must be organized. You must pay attention to details, spelling counts! Strong web and social media experience is preferred. Shooting and editing experience is a must. Time management skills and the ability to multitask are key. The world of TV News is changing, so you must be well-versed in all aspects of journalism, from broadcast, to podcasting and everything in-between. This position works weekends and possibly holidays depending on schedule.
