Executive Producer (Nightside)
FOX6 Milwaukee is looking for an experienced Executive Producer who thrives in breaking news, embraces a streaming-and-digital-first approach to coverage, and knows how to lead urgent, impactful storytelling across platforms.
This is a hands-on newsroom leadership role overseeing nightly newscasts and streaming coverage in a fast-paced, high-expectations environment. We’re looking for a decisive editorial leader who can drive coverage forward, make smart decisions quickly, communicate clearly under pressure, and guide experienced teams through evolving news coverage and complex editorial situations in real time.
We believe great leadership requires both high empathy and high accountability; you will be expected to champion a supportive, respectful culture while maintaining the rigorous standards required to win the market.
What you’ll do
Lead:
- Lead the editorial execution of nightly newscasts and streaming coverage with a strong emphasis on urgency, accuracy, enterprise storytelling, and breaking news.
- Lead producers, anchors, reporters, photographers, editors, and digital teams to deliver compelling content across broadcast, streaming, mobile, web, and social platforms.
- Lead daily editorial meetings, rundown meetings, post-show reviews, and coverage planning for major news events with a strong focus on multi-platform execution.
- Lead, coach and develop producers and newsroom staff through clear, timely feedback, regular performance conversations, and real-time editorial guidance.
Editorial Judgment:
- Drive breaking news coverage by continuously evolving content as new information develops and ensuring updates make it to air, streaming, digital, and social platforms in real time.
- Oversee streaming-first coverage that is live, conversational, flexible, and responsive to developing news throughout the day.
- Make fast, confident editorial decisions during breaking news and severe weather coverage while maintaining calm, clear communication under pressure.
- Ensure all content — including scripts, graphics, teases, headlines, push alerts, and digital presentation — is accurate, fair, ethical, legally sound, conversational, and visually compelling.
Collaboration:
- Work closely with newsroom leadership to execute editorial strategy, audience growth initiatives, and cross-platform content goals.

Qualifications
- Previous experience as an Executive Producer in a television newsroom is required.

- Strong understanding of streaming, broadcast and digital audience strategy, social media, and multi-platform storytelling.

Photojournalist

Responsibilities
Your days at FOX6 will be dynamic and far from monotonous. Key responsibilities include:
- Investigative Storytelling: Flex your storytelling muscles by producing longform investigative pieces that require technical precision and creative visual sequencing.
- Field Reporting: Chase breaking news and turn general assignment stories on tight deadlines.

Qualifications
- Education: Vocational or Technical School degree is strongly preferred.
- Experience: At least two years of Television News shooting experience.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in non-linear editing software (preferably Edius) and professional photo equipment.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift, carry, and handle 30 to 50 pounds of gear in all weather conditions, including Wisconsin winters and summers.
- Logistics: Must have a valid driver’s license for frequent travel; a drone license is preferred.

News Producer

Responsibilities
You will create a newscast that delivers unique content and distinguishes FOX6 from the competition. You must maintain unwavering accuracy and demonstrate urgency in your news writing. This role includes producing both traditional linear broadcasts and non-traditional news content, with a strong emphasis on producing for streaming platforms. You will execute error-free newscasts from the booth, staying calm under pressure while communicating clearly with your team. Qualifications
You must have a college degree (preferably in Journalism) with a minimum of two years producing experience at a commercial television station. Excellent news judgment is required. You must be able to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with the ability to pivot quickly in breaking news situations.
The world of TV news is constantly evolving, and you must be well-versed in all aspects of journalism, from writing to sourcing through social networking. What You'll Do
Leadership & Operations
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineering professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Partner with the Vice President of Engineering, Production leadership, and other departments to support station objectives and long-term technical initiatives.
- Serve as a key technical leader and escalation point for critical operational and maintenance issues.
- Maintain on-call availability and provide leadership during emergency situations impacting station operations.
- Develop engineering priorities, workflows, and operational procedures to support a 24/7 broadcast environment.
Technical Oversight
- Oversee the performance, maintenance, and reliability of all broadcast, production, transmission, and digital infrastructure.
- Provide hands-on support and technical guidance for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of station equipment and systems.
- Ensure compliance with FCC regulations, industry standards, and company policies.
- Support live remote productions and special broadcasts utilizing a variety of transmission and delivery technologies.
- Monitor and maintain facility-related systems, including HVAC, electrical, and other critical infrastructure.
Strategic Planning & Innovation
- Lead engineering projects from concept through implementation, ensuring successful delivery on time and within budget.

What You'll Bring
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in broadcast engineering, broadcast technology, or a related technical field.
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing projects, teams, or technical operations.
- Strong understanding of broadcast systems, transmission technologies, and production workflows.
- Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

Preferred Qualifications

- SMPTE 2110 environments
- HDR production workflows
- RF systems and transmission technologies

Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, and work in equipment rooms, studios, and transmitter facilities as needed.
- Ability to travel to transmitter, translator, and remote production sites when required.

What you'll have:
As a FOX6 Media Account Executive, you must be passionate about collaborating with local business owners. Being personable with excellent written and verbal communication skills is essential in your success. You must be detail-oriented and organized to stay on top of clients’ needs. Being proficient with MS Office is necessary. An understanding of core marketing principles is vital to provide targeted solutions to your clients. You must have a strong desire to work in the field (not sitting in an office) to meet with clients, discover their needs and present a strong marketing plan that will help clients reach their goals. An understanding of digital products – video, social, mobile, display, native, contesting, etc. is preferred. A four-year college degree and prior sales experience is desired.
