Executive Producer

FOX6 is on the hunt for a visionary with a passion for journalism to oversee our nightly newscasts. Responsibilities

This isn’t just any role.  You’re the maestro, the one at the heart of our FOX6 nightside team, boosting the morale and direction of our newsroom. This position oversees the creation of show rundowns, participates in story selection and oversees content.  Do you know a great newscast with graphics and pacing when you see one?  If so, you are who we are looking for. 

You will become a member of the FOX6 news management team and will develop and implement strategic goals in concert. The executive producer also ensures reporters and photojournalists in the field meet newsroom standards for fairness, accuracy, ethics and presentation.  The EP is a key player in managing staff accountability. 

Milwaukee’s got stories to tell, and we’re at the forefront.  We are the news and digital leader in the Milwaukee market and are looking for the best and brightest to help continue that tradition!

Qualifications

Four years of newscast producing is required. Prior newsroom management experience and a college degree in journalism or related field is a necessity! Must have knowledge and proficiency in newsroom systems. Must have experience and strong skillset in social media. Strong oral and written communication skills a must. Must be knowledgeable of legal and ethical parameters for mass media.

Reporter

Responsibilities

Developing sources and breaking stories is what it’s all about, you MUST be able to demonstrate how you aggressively pursue relevant stories and develop exclusive content.  You must be great at incorporating digital/social media content with all your stories too.  The successful candidate must have strong LIVE reporting skills and the ability to communicate complex stories that our viewers can understand and use to better their lives!! You have to be a people person who can work in a TEAM environment!

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field with a minimum 3 years reporting experience in a commercial television news operation.  You must have a passion for storytelling and come to our editorial meetings with great story ideas!  You’ll need to exhibit strong on-air skills both in the field and in studio.  You must strive for excellence in everything and relentlessly pursue your stories with passion and determination.

Morning News Producer

Qualifications

You must have a college degree (preferably in Journalism) with a minimum of two years producing experience working at a commercial television station. Must be able to work under pressure, meet strict deadlines and multitask.  The ideal candidate has familiarity with newsroom computer systems, graphics programs and editing skills a plus.  This is a morning news position, but other shifts may be assigned as needed including weekends and holidays.

Photojournalist

Responsibilities

Not an office job!  As a FOX6 Photojournalist, your days will be anything but monotonous.  You’ll be in the field, teaming up with a reporter to chase breaking news and turning stories on a tight deadline.  You’ll be tasked with covering a local or professional sporting event or even going on your own to capture compelling weather video. You’ll flex your storytelling muscles with longform pieces that you are passionate about.  We will provide the equipment so you can capture the best sequences, natural sounds and moments to produce compelling stories that our viewers remember.     

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s Degree is strongly preferred
  • At least two years of Television News shooting experience, as well as technical knowledge of non-linear editing software, preferably Edius, and photo equipment
  • Must be physically able to lift, carry and handle 30 to 50 pounds of camera gear, and deal with the realities of a Wisconsin winter or summer
  • Position requires driving
  • Drone license preferred

Multi-Media Producer/Investigative Producer

FOX6 has a rare opening for a Multi-Media/Investigative Producer. This position will focus on telling stories our digital users will find timely, relevant, engaging and shareable. You will also work closely with the Investigative team to generate opportunities outside broadcast television. You’ll be asked to create on-demand video content and manage livestreams for our FOX Local platform. In breaking news situations, you’ll need to drop what you’re doing and react quickly to distill a rapid stream of information and video into digestible content across digital platforms. You will be an innovator, a storyteller and a creator!

Responsibilities

  • Produce stories with impact, suitable for broadcast and streaming platforms
  • Think innovatively to create engaging content that resonates with diverse audiences on their preferred media platforms
  • Work beyond the conventional broadcast time constraints to tell stories that demand attention
  • Display exceptional organizational and writing skills to execute tasks efficiently and effectively
  • Demonstrate agility and confidence when working under tight deadlines
  • Collaborate with the Investigative Team to generate enterprise stories from inception to final presentation
  • Conduct research, schedule interviews, delve into data analytics, and coordinate all production phases for the Investigative team
  • Assist with news gathering including source building, hidden camera work and filing public records request
  • Curate investigative stories to showcase on streaming platforms

Qualifications

You must have a college degree (preferably in Journalism). Minimum of two years producing experience working at a commercial television station or digital news operation. The world of TV News is changing, so you must be well-versed in all aspects of journalism, from online to working sources through social networking. You must have strong news judgment and an understanding of libel and slander laws. The ideal candidate has familiarity with newsroom computer systems, graphics programs and editing skills a plus.

Newscast Director (part-time)

FOX6 is seeking a part-time newscast director to play an integral part in creating the best newscasts in Milwaukee. We are looking for a visual thinker who is proactive, creative, takes initiative, reacts quickly, projects a positive attitude and keeps their composure during stressful situations. Join a team that works hard and takes pride in delivering timely and captivating news to our audience. 

Responsibilities

The successful individual in this position will work with producers and control room crew to create live, compelling, error-free newscasts.  Prepare show rundowns in I-News to coordinate all live shots and cues and lead robo camera operator, audio operator and floor director as needed.  While the main emphasis is directing news, this position may be called upon to direct all types of broadcast and streaming programs including promotion, local programming, community affairs, commercials and remotes.  You will also become familiarized and gain experience with audio, robo, and whatever else comes up to assist your team.   

Qualifications

Experience with Ross Overdrive, iNews, BitCentral, and Chyron is preferred.  Ability to work unique shifts and schedules with turnarounds from evenings to mornings is required.  Must possess the ability to communicate clearly and effectively to relay directions. Must make quick decisions and have the ability to react quickly to changing events while remaining calm under pressure.  Strong attention to detail is necessary.  High school diploma required, college degree preferred, not required.  1-2 years’ experience in a broadcast operation preferred.  This position is represented by IBEW Local 2150.
