South Shore Frolic parade cancelled for 2012

MILWAUKEE -- The South Shore Frolic parade has been cancelled because of a lack of funding and sponsorship. However, the rest of the 63rd annual Frolic will go on as scheduled, July 13-15.

"The parade cost including fee, permits and parade participants is in excess of $25,000, and without a parade sponsor in 2012, it left us no choice but to unfortunately cancel this portion of the Frolic," Bay View Lions Club President Lyn Graziano, said in a news release Friday, May 11th.

The Frolic parade stretched two-and-a-half miles long and ran through Milwaukee's Bay View neighborhoods. It annually attracted as many as 20,000 people along the parade route.

Frolic organizers insist they will still have a festival that includes music, a car show, games for kids, food and fireworks.
