Man faces one count of first-degree reckless homicide in connection with stabbing

CUDAHY -- 25-year-old Daymeon McCune faces one count of first-degree reckless homicide in connection with the stabbing death of 52-year-old Brian Zurfluh.

On Saturday, December 22nd at approximately 1:31 a.m. authorities received a 911 call regarding a stabbing within an apartment complex in the 3700 block of E. Layton Avenue.

Upon arrival, officers found Zurfluh with a significant stab wound to his back. Zurfluh was transported to Froedtert Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Officials say around 2:11 a.m. on December 22nd, St. Francis police stopped Daymeon McCune, someone they say was a person of interest, and brought him in for questioning. Around 8:23 a.m. police initiated a homicide investigation, and McCune was arrested in connection with the homicide.

On Wednesday, December 26th the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office issued a criminal complaint charging McCune with one count of first-degree reckless homicide in the case.

A criminal complaint in the case indicates Zurfluh's live-in girlfriend was McCune's mother.

The criminal complaint says McCune was reportedly intoxicated, and overheard an argument between Zurfluh and his mother. McCune reportedly intervened in the argument, and that is when the stabbing occurred.

If convicted, McCune faces up to 60 years in prison.
