SHEBOYGAN (WITI) — Sheboygan police are investigating the stabbing of a 42-year-old man on Friday night, February 5th.

A police officer spotted the victim lying in the bushes on the Starbuck Coffee Shop property at N. 14th St. & Erie Ave. The officer stopped and spoke with the man and learned that he had been stabbed in the back with a large knife by another man at a residence nearby.

Sheboygan Fire Dept. paramedics initially transported the victim to Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Hospital. He was later flown by Flight for Life to Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee where he underwent surgery. He is listed in stable condition.

The suspect in this stabbing was taken into custody a short time later at the same residence where the crime occurred.

The suspect is a 51-year-old Sheboygan man and has an extensive record with the Sheboygan Police Department.  He is currently incarcerated at the Sheboygan County Detention Center after his arrest for Aggravated Assault.

The suspect and victim did know each other and police believe alcohol to have been a factor in this incident.
