Kilbourn Avenue Bridge closed Thursday for repairs

MILWAUKEE (WITI) — The Kilbourn Avenue bridge, which spans the Milwaukee River downtown, is closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic Thursday, April 11 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Note that the bridge will be open during both the morning and afternoon rush cycles. If work cannot be completed by Thursday, the bridge will be closed again on Friday, April 12.

Traffic will be detoured as follows:

• Westbound traffic will use the State Street bridge

• Eastbound traffic will use the Wells Street bridge

The bridge will be locked in the raised/up position for work crews to replace one of the four centerlock bars on the bridge. This work will be accomplished under the manufacturers/contractor warranty, and will be performed at no cost to the City.
