Racine apartment complex damaged following fire
RACINE (WITI) -- Racine fire officials responded to the scene of apartment fire on Erie Street early Tuesday morning, June 25th.
According to authorities, fire officials received a call around 7 a.m. for a report of smoke coming off the roof of a building.
Upon arrival, firefighters say no alarms were sounding and no evacuation had occurred. Firefighters evacuated the building and the Belle Urban System provided a bus for temporary shelter for the apartment residents.
Officials say the fire broke out in a wall that was shared between two apartments.
The fire caused an estimated $12,000 in damage to the building.
The cause of the fire is unknown and remains under investigation.
