Semi carrying 40,000 lbs. of cheese overturns in Sheboygan

SHEBOYGAN (WITI) -- Officials were on the scene Tuesday night, July 2nd of a semi rollover in Sheboygan.

Officials say a 61-year-old man from Plymouth was driving the semi northbound on I-43 near Highway 23 just before 6:00 p.m., and was attempting to get on the off-ramp to go westbound on Highway 23, and took the off-ramp too fast.

Officials say the semi was hauling 40,000 pounds of cheese, but the load was not securely fastened, which caused the trailer to turn on its side.

The driver suffered minor injuries but refused medical attention at the scene.

The semi's driver was cited for operating too fast and failure to secure his load.
