MPS, police union donate computers to school in need

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- The Sharon Junior Academy has been running on faith after two thefts in recent months left the school's computer lab empty. School officials were planning to begin the upcoming school year without computers. That all changed on Tuesday, July 9th.

Milwaukee Police Association President Mike Crivello heard about the school's hardship and decided to help.

"This is for our children, our future. So why wouldn't anyone would want to reach out to a school such as this that's trying to make a difference in our community," said Crivello.

The MPA donated six computers to the school. Those computers were not being used -- and essentially sitting in a room and collecting dust. The MPA decided it was better to put those computers to good use.

A short while later, the Academy got another call; this one from Milwaukee Public Schools. MPS pledged to donated 30 computers.

"Hallelujah to Milwaukee, thank you so much," said Joyce Smith of the Sharon Junior Academy.
