Five O'Clock Steakhouse has some internet capabilities restored

MILWAUKEE (WITI) — FOX6 News has received an update on the phone and internet situation at Five O'Clock Steakhouse. FOX6 News first brought you the story on Friday, February 28th. Restaurant officials have said spotty AT&T internet access over the past few weeks has been costing them.

Staff on Tuesday, February 25th found their phone and internet services were no longer working, knocking out the capacity to process credit cards, book reservations online and even stream background music.

Now, we've learned as a result of media coverage, on Friday evening, AT&T responded by providing a secure wireless router, so restaurant staff is able to authorize credit cards and has a dedicated cell phone for accepting reservations.

Restaurant officials say online reservations are still unavailable, and say "this continues to cost us more by the minute."

There is no confirmation at this time as to when phone and internet service will be fully restored.

Five O’Clock Steakhouse is very popular. The restaurant has been around since 1948 and was recently named one of Travel Channel’s best steakhouses in the country.

A restaurant official told FOX6 News online reservations garner may of their new customers and without internet, business was down about 30% over a week's period.

AT&T has said they are working to correct the situation.

When FOX6 initially covered this story, a spokesman for the company released a statement saying: "Due to weather-related cable damage, a limited number of downtown Milwaukee customers may be experiencing issues with AT&T wireline services. Technicians are working to restore service as quickly as possible."
