20-year-old Kenosha man dies after shooting & car crash into home

KENOSHA (WITI) -- Officers with the Kenosha Police Department responded to 65th and Sheridan Road on Monday, April 14th for a reported shooting and car crash. One person died.

The victim in this case has been identified as 20-year-old Anthony Edwards of Kenosha.

When officers arrived on scene, they located a vehicle that had struck a home near 65th and Sheridan.

"I thought it was a drunk driver," neighbor Casey Farrell said.

Police say Edwards was the operator of the vehicle, and there was a juvenile male inside.

"I could tell that something was absolutely wrong," Farrell said.

Officials say Edwards appeared to have suffered a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Kenosha County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Tracey Forrest lives feet from where the vehicle crashed.

"Was sound asleep and woke up to a loud boom, and came outside my bedroom door and my whole house was lit up with red, white and blue lights like it was the Fourth of July," Forrest said.

An investigation revealed that the shooting occurred in the area of 58th Street and 11th Avenue.

There is a hospital down the street from where the crash occurred. No one was hurt in the crash.

"It kind of shook the house, but it didn't do any damage to my house internally," Forrest said.

Kenosha detectives identified two adult males whom are believed to be involved in the shooting. They were located in a nearby home and are being held on unrelated charges.

At this time, officials believe that this is an isolated incident and there is no danger to the public. However, they do not know yet what led to this shooting.

"We know this was not a random act. We don't believe there's any threat to the public at this time. We believe that all the parties that are involved we have in custody right now," a Kenosha police official told FOX6 News.

The investigation is ongoing and further information will be released as it is developed.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact the Kenosha Police Department Detective Bureau at 262-605-5203, or Kenosha Crime Stoppers at 262-656-7333.
