"I am fired up and ready to go:" Mary Burke hopes she'll celebrate a victory in Madison Tuesday night

MADISON (WITI) -- On the eve of the November 4th General Election, Democratic gubernatorial candidate Mary Burke made campaign stops in Eau Claire, Superior, Stevens Point and Green Bay before making her way to Madison to host a party, thanking her volunteers.

Senator Tammy Baldwin joined Burke in Madison for the party that was planned for 8:00 p.m. at the American Federation for Teachers building.

"All we gotta do is get people to the polls. The votes are there. The people are out there," Burke said Monday.

Burke's day began around 9:00 a.m. Monday, with a stop in Eau Claire. There, she helped campaign volunteers kick off a last-minute canvass of voters.

From there, she headed to Superior, and then Stevens Point, and then Green Bay.

More than 100 volunteers were expected at Monday night's party in Madison. It was expected to be an informal event, with Burke and Baldwin meeting with those volunteers.

Those volunteers have been going door-to-door throughout West Madison's 38 wards.

They started their day around 8:00 a.m., and they'll be back at it Tuesday -- continuing until 8:00 p.m., when the polls close.

"Bringing people together, and making sure that it's the people that are being heard, and not the big-money special interests," Burke said Monday.

Burke says she's looking forward to Election Day.

"I set my alarm for 4:30 every morning and I am up before the alarm even rings because I am fired up and ready to go. All those attack ads and these lies and everything else - I'll tell you this - the tougher they get, the tougher I get," Burke said in Eau Claire Monday.

Burke will make three stops on Election Day, and that includes a stop in Milwaukee.

Burke hopes to celebrate a victory in Madison on Tuesday night.
