"One of those crazy things you do in Wisconsin:" More than 1,000 attend "Turkey Blow Up" event

BONDUEL (WITI) -- Was your Thanksgiving lacking some thrill?

A crowd of more than 1,000 at Doc’s Harley-Davidson in Bonduel attended the annual "Turkey Blow Up" event at Doc's Harley-Davidson in Bonduel.

Employees spent three weeks building a giant paper mache turkey.

Organizers say this a tradition they want to keep continuing.

“It’s just one of those crazy things you do in Wisconsin to try to ward off the cold weather and the snow, and what more fun can you have at Thanksgiving other than blowing up a giant turkey?” said Steve “Doc” Hopkins.

The giant paper mache turkey was stuffed with a mortar round and dozens of colored balls.

Those balls were collected, and turned in for various door prizes.
