MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Losing weight in the New Year is much easier said than done, but there are some healthy habits you can include in your lifestyle to help you accomplish your resolution.
Fitness Trainer and Movement Specialist Adam Von Rothfelder says people should make short-term goals so you don't set yourself up for failure.
"Setting up a short-term goal like I`m going to go for a walk two days a week. If you`re already someone who goes for walks than I`m going to go for a hike two days a week," said Von Rothfelder.
Step two, build relationships with people who have common goals.
Whether it's getting a personal trainer, joining a group fitness class, or having a workout buddy, this will hold you accountable and make you feel a part of something.
"It has to be a lifestyle and in order for it to be a lifestyle that`s successful you have to surround yourself with people in your life that are going to help drive that success," said Von Rothfelder.
Nutrition is a very important element of your health.
Von Rothfelder advises shopping the perimeter of a grocery store to avoid packaged food.
Many packaged foods contain harmful chemicals your body doesn't know how to digest.
"They look at nutrition facts and they don`t look at ingredients and when you start looking at ingredients you start realizing there`s more in my food than food," said Von Rothfelder.
Lastly, don't confuse hunger with thirst.
People should be drinking a half-gallon to a gallon of water a day.
"If you`re hungry before a meal or in-between meals try drinking more water and ask yourself when was the last water I had? Or, how much water have I had today? And I guarantee you it`s probably not enough," said Von Rothfelder.
These are just a few stepping-stones to help you achieve success in 2015.
