The rumor with few answers: Will The Rolling Stones perform in Milwaukee?

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- It's a rumor, but there are enough clues out there to string you along. The rumor is The Rolling Stones will perform in Milwaukee as part of a North American summer tour.

The possibility of The Rolling Stones playing in Milwaukee has reached fever pitch with a billboard, which includes the Stones' symbol -- and rumors that not only is the group coming to Milwaukee, but that they would play at the Marcus Amphitheater on the Summerfest grounds June 23rd. Other stops on the North American tour could include Nashville and Indianapolis.

"The economic impact of the Stones coming to Milwaukee would be huge," said Kristin Settle, VISIT Milwaukee Communications Director. "A Rolling Stones concert isn't a concert. It's an event. It's something that everybody can enjoy. You don't just go to the concert. You go out to the restaurants. You stay in the hotels. You go shopping," said Settle.

Not to mention, Summerfest kicks off the very next day.

So far though, there's been no official announcement that The Stones are coming.

A Nashville, Tennessee television station reported that The Stones' announcement is delayed because of 'an issue with the nationwide promoter's ticketing.'

At the Summerfest office, FOX6 News was told no one was available to talk. But we did see the man behind the Brian Wurch Band -- who was also in the office.

"I'm trying to get a gig at Summerfest. I'd love to open for The Stones. That would be nice," said Wurch.

Wurch too, is basing his actions on rumors -- but he thinks this is his shot.

"I think it's my turn. I've paid a lot of dues," said Wurch.

And if the rumors are true...

"It would be a real badge of honor to have The Rolling Stones come and perform at the Marcus Amphitheater," said Settle.

A Rolling Stones concert is a "bucket list-caliber" event and for many people, ticket prices won't matter.
