Man wanted for questioning in West Allis homicide

WEST ALLIS (WITI) -- FOX6 News has identified a man wanted for being a possible suspect in a homicide that happened near 57th and National earlier this month.

36-year-old Alberto Rivera is a convicted felon, so he's been charged with owning a firearm.

Police would like to talk with him about what happened on April 8th near 57th and National in West Allis.

A 20-year-old woman was shot and left for dead. Her friend was tied up and killed in the back of a car.

It was a late-night scene in West Allis that some will never forget. A woman was shot -- seen in surveillance video trying to get help after her friend was killed in an alley. We now know what led up to the bloody nightmare.

"She had a gash up in her left forehead and blood was dripping down her face," Claudia Derringer, who helped the victim said.

According to an affidavit filed by West Allis police, the woman was going out to dinner with a man -- driving in his rented Chevy Tahoe. Along the way, the man got a call and they drove to another man's home off Appleton Avenue in Milwaukee.

The woman stayed in the car, and about 15 minutes later, the caller came out and pointed a gun with a laser sight on the front toward the woman -- making her move to the back of the Tahoe.

Then, another man exited the home alongside the male victim, who was bound by his wrists with a gag in his mouth.

Investigators say the suspects demanded money from the man and the male victim explained he gave them all his money.

Police documents show the four drove around, and ended up behind a Kwik Pantry on National Avenue in West Allis. Then, the man pointed the gun at the woman -- asking her to put her hands in front of her head.

A bullet was fired -- slicing through both of her wrists and grazing the top of her head.

The two suspects then ran away.

The woman managed to walk to a nearby home -- banging on the door for help.

"She said 'my boyfriend got shot.' She said 'he got shot and killed,'" Derringer said.

According to a criminal complaint, the female victim in this case identified Rivera as the shooter. Rivera hasn't been taken into custody by police.

"This is somebody who went to prison for a felony murder, a violent crime -- was in custody in the prison system until late 2013 and really in a very short period of time is involved in some way in another very violent offense,"
