Hundreds show up to Lambeau Field to help shovel more than a foot of heavy, wet snow

GREEN BAY -- There was no ticket needed to get inside Lambeau Field on Thursday, December 31st. Packers officials paid fans to help shovel out the stadium after Monday's snowfall, and ahead of Sunday's NFC North Division battle.

The bleachers needed to be cleared after more than a foot of snow fell on Monday, December 28th in Green Bay.

Hundreds showed up, and they were given shovels to help get the job done.

Shoveling started at 7:30 a.m.

The Packers facilities manager says the process was slower than usual.

"This snowfall was really heavy and we got well over a foot and in some areas it drifted and they might be two feet up in the stands, so the amount of snow we have right now is slowing us down a little bit," Todd Edlebeck said.

The first 650 people who showed up were allowed to take part in the shoveling effort.

They were paid $10/hour.

We're told the first people in line showed up Thursday morning at 2:00 a.m.!

The Packers announced on Thursday afternoon they need shovelers for more snow removal on New Year's Day -- Friday, January 1st.
