WAUWATOSA — Wauwatosa police are investigating a hit-and-run crash that happened on Tuesday night, February 16th near Mayfair Road and North Avenue.

Police say a citizen followed the hit-and-run driver and called police.

The striking vehicle proceeded south on Mayfair Road and then turned into Innovation Drive where police arrived and found the vehicle. Officers pursued the vehicle into the research park on the County Grounds.

The hit-and-run driver went onto a dead-end road in the research park and then into a parking structure — heading up and down ramps on various levels, and eventually ending up on the bottom of the ramp, where the vehicle went through a security gate.

Shortly thereafter, the occupants of the vehicle abandoned the car and fled on foot.

A 14-year-old and an 18-year-old were arrested following a brief foot chase.

Police say it appears the 18-year-old was the driver.

Charges are being referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in this case.
