Milwaukee's St. Patrick's Day Parade celebrates 50 years

MILWAUKEE -- It was a whole lot of Irish fun in downtown Milwaukee as folks gathered for the 50th annual St. Patrick's Day Parade on Saturday, March 12th.

The annual parade kicked off on Wisconsin Avenue at Old World Third Street and traveled through the streets of downtown Milwaukee. This year featured over 140 units including Irish dance groups, pipe and drum corps and local celebrities and dignitaries.

Those who put on the parade, the Shamrock Club of Wisconsin, are celebrating its 50th anniversary of producing the parade, but the event dates back to 1843.

Milwaukee's St. Patrick's Day Parade is the sixth oldest in the nation.
