Three men federally indicted for armed carjacking; accused of stealing two cars from one woman

MILWAUKEE -- Three Milwaukee men have been indicted for an armed carjacking that took place near Wick Field in Milwaukee back in July 2015. That announcement was made on Wednesday, May 25th.

24-year-old Sean Harvey, 23-year-old Broderick Moore and 25-year-old Robert Ellis have each been charged with one count of motor vehicle robbery and one county of brandishing a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence. Harvey is also charged with possession with intent to distribute cocaine base and felon in possession of a firearm.

Prosecutors say these men stole two cars from a woman.

"All of a sudden he just slammed that door open -- came in like lightning," the victim said when FOX6 News spoke with her in July. "Pulled the gun out and said `give me those keys. Give me those keys or I`ll kill you.'"

Authorities say Broderick Moore pointed a gun at the woman's head and stole her vehicle.

"I gave him the keys and he took off like a bat," the victim said.

It happened near Wick Field, and the woman's purse and a set of keys were inside. Investigators say the set of keys led the suspects to her home, where a second vehicle was stolen from her driveway.

According to a federal criminal complaint filed in this case, one of the vehicles was recovered, and fingerprints lifted from that vehicle matched Sean Harvey.

Inside the vehicle, police found scales and business cards belonging to Robert Ellis. Investigators believe the suspects stole these vehicles for a reason.

"They take these newer cars and use them as rolling drug houses," the victim said.

These men have been charged federally in part as a response to the increasing number of carjackings happening in Milwaukee. Officials with the U.S. Attorney's Office told FOX6 News they work with local district attorneys to determine which carjacking cases will be federally prosecuted.

The victim told FOX6 News she is thrilled to learn these men are now facing federal charges, and said "they deserve the harshest punishment."

If convicted, each man faces up to 15 years in prison on the motor vehicle robbery count and a minimum mandatory sentence of seven years and up to life in prison on the charge of brandishing of a firearm during a crime of violence.
