FOND DU LAC — Fond du Lac Fire/Rescue responded to the scene of a gas leak at the intersection of Johnson and Doty Friday morning, August 5th.

Upon arrival, authorities learned that a maintenance crew had severed a four- inch gas line — which was leaking a large amount of natural gas.

With the assistance of Fond du Lac Police Department, FDLFR secured a safety perimeter and closed Johnson Street to traffic between Military and Macy.

FDLFR crews evacuated 10 people from homes in the immediate vicinity of the gas leak.  Alliant Energy responded to the scene and began efforts to shut down natural gas supply to the area of the leak.

Johnson Street was closed for approximately 30 minutes until the leak was contained.

FDLFR crews remained on scene after Alliant Energy shut down the leak and cleared homes in the area for any residual natural gas and residents were able to return.

There were no injuries.
