Wisconsin marks 100+ deaths due to COVID-19; 2,800+ positive cases, 30K+ negative

MILWAUKEE — The total number of positive cases of the coronavirus rose to 2,756 Wednesday, April 8, officials with the Wisconsin Department of Health Services reported. Among those positive cases, 790 have required hospitalization (29%). DHS officials reported 99 deaths in the state Wednesday, and 30,115 negative tests for COVID-19.

Milwaukee County’s coronavirus dashboard showed 1,461 positive cases in the county Wednesday afternoon, along with 59 deaths. DHS officials listed Milwaukee as having 1,417 positive cases and 54 deaths (as of 9 p.m. Tuesday).

Wednesday evening, an additional death was reported in Ozaukee County.

The additional positive cases reported by Milwaukee County health officials brings us to over 2,800 statewide. The additional deaths bring the statewide total over 100 -- at 105.
