Straw bale gardening, ways to rid garden of slugs

Ugh - those slugs! There are plenty of them this year. And earwigs, too. Though we don't see them much because they feed at night and hideout by day, their feeding damage is pretty distinctive. What's a gardener to do? Although there are many non-chemical options, the most effective approach is with an organic product.
