1 arrested after leading authorities on pursuit in Sheboygan County
SHEBOYGAN COUNTY -- One person was taken into custody early Wednesday morning, August 31st after leading authorities on a pursuit in Sheboygan County.
The pursuit began around 1 a.m. after Sheboygan County Sheriff's deputies conducted a traffic stop in the parking lot of Kvindlog's Services Inc. in the Village of Waldo.
According to authorities, as deputies were speaking with the operator of the vehicle, the operator sped off and a pursuit was initiated.
The vehicle went southbound on State Highway (STH) 57 from Waldo, where a pursuing deputy attempted the Pursuit Intervention Technique (PIT) as the suspect attempted to perform a U-Turn at County Highway (CTH) F.
The PIT was unsuccessful and the suspect continued southbound on STH 57, where another deputy was able to deploy spike stripes. The driver's side tires were deflated.
The suspect continued southbound on STH 57 when they crossed the median and started to travel southbound in the northbound lanes of STH 57.
A deputy tried a PIT, this time the suspect vehicle spun out into the median.
The suspect vehicle was able to leave the median and travel northbound on STH 57 in the northbound lanes. Spike stripes were again deployed on STH 57 near CTH U and were successful in deflating the passenger side tires. The suspect refused to stop and another PIT was utilized.
The suspect vehicle finally stopped in the median after the PIT. The operator tried to flee on foot and was taken into custody with the use of a taser.
The suspect vehicle and two squads were damaged as a result of the pursuit. There was no injuries to the suspect or any deputies. No other vehicles were damaged in the pursuit.
The suspect is currently being held at the Sheboygan County Detention Center on a warrant from Probation and Parole, along with a warrant from Sheboygan County Sheriff's Office.
The suspect will be referred to the district attorney's office for Charges of: eluding, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
