JACKSON -- Officials with the Washington County Sheriff's Office say a 60-year-old Hartford woman was killed in a head-on crash involving four vehicles that happened Tuesday afternoon, July 19th on State Highway 60.
It happened around 2:30 p.m. -- one-tenth of a mile east of County Highway M.
Sheriff's officials say passing motorists advised that one operator was trapped in a vehicle, and another was ejected.
Two people were noted to be seriously hurt upon the arrival of first responders.
The trapped operator was taken to the hospital by Flight for Life after she was extricated. She was pronounced dead sometime after Flight for Life's departure from the scene. She has been identified as Cynthia Patrick.
A 21-year-old Jackson man, identified as Dylan Hodgson, was the ejected operator. He suffered significant injuries and was taken to Froedtert Hospital via ambulance.
A 16-year-old girl from Jackson and 17-year-old girl from Jackson suffered minor injuries.
An investigation has revealed the 21-year-old Jackson man was headed eastbound on State Highway 60 -- just east of County Highway M when he entered the southern gravel shoulder to pass two eastbound vehicles in front of him. Officials say he lost control of his vehicle in the gravel, and the vehicle slid back onto the roadway -- crossing the center line into the westbound lane of traffic.
There, it struck a vehicle driven by the 60-year-old Hartford woman, who later died.
That woman's vehicle spun off of State Highway 60 after the initial impact, and made contact with a parked vehicle in a yard, before coming to rest directly next to a home.
A fourth vehicle occupied by the two teenage girls from Jackson swerved to avoid the crash and entered the south ditch on Highway 60. Their vehicle sustained minor damage.
Sheriff's officials say this is the eighth traffic fatality in 2016 in Washington County.
