11-year-old boy hurt after being struck by vehicle while riding bike in Mount Pleasant
MOUNT PLEASANT -- An 11-year-old boy was taken to the hospital early Friday morning, September 23rd after he was struck by a vehicle on Taylor Avenue near Meachem Road in Mount Pleasant. We're told this was a car vs. bike accident.
It happened around 6:00 a.m.
Police say the 11-year-old boy was crossing the street when he was struck by a vehicle.
The driver of the vehicle told police she did not see the boy. Officials say the boy was wearing dark clothing and did not have a light on his bicycle.
The boy was taken to Wheaton Franciscan Hospital for non-life threatening injuries. No one in the vehicle was injured.
The driver of the vehicle was cited for failure to have insurance.
