12-year-old boy killed in dirt bike vs. truck accident in Dodge County

DODGE COUNTY -- A 12-year-old boy traveling on a dirt bike was struck and killed by a pickup truck near Neosho on Friday afternoon, May 20th. The victim has been identified as Maxwell Behmke.

The crash happened just before 4:00 p.m.

According to the Dodge County Sheriff's Office, the boy was riding his dirt bike on County Highway NN near N. Tyler Road. He was crossing the roadway when he was hit by a pickup truck being driven by a 34-year-old Neosho man.

First responders say the 12-year-old died at the scene. The pickup driver was not injured.

Officials say the boy was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The crash is under investigation.
