13-year-old taken to hospital via Flight for Life after crash in Dodge Co.; woman, 3 other children hurt

DODGE COUNTY -- Officials with the Dodge County Sheriff's Office say a 13-year-old was taken to the hospital via Flight for Life, and a woman and three other children were hurt in a crash involving a semi and pickup truck on I-41 Monday, July 25th.

It happened shortly before 11:00 a.m. on I-41, south of State Highway 67 in Lomira.

Officials say a 48-year-old man from Newark, Illinois was driving a pickup, towing a travel trailer -- headed north on I-41. Four children, and the driver's wife, a 46-year-old woman were inside the vehicle.

A 35-year-old man from Durand, Wisconsin was headed north on I-41 in a semi.

Sheriff's officials say the semi struck the rear of the pickup truck's travel trailer, causing the pickup and trailer to overturn.

A 13-year-old inside the pickup was taken to the hospital via Flight for Life.

The driver's wife and three other children were taken to a hospital in Fond du Lac.

The driver of the pickup, and the driver of the semi were not hurt.



 

Assisting at the scene was:  Lomira Police, Wisconsin State Patrol, Lomira and Brownsville Fire Departments, Lomira First Responders, Flight for Life, Dodge County Highway Department and Dodge County Emergency Response Team.  EMS units responding to the scene were:  Fond du lac, Watertown, Theresa and Mayville.

The crash remains under investigation.
