14-year-old boy in critical condition after he was pulled from the water in Sheboygan
SHEBOYGAN -- Officials with the Sheboygan Fire Department say a 14-year-old boy was taken to the hospital after he was pulled form the water at General King Park on Sheboygan's south side Monday evening, July 11th.
The call for this incident came in around 6:30 p.m. A caller indicated a swimmer hadn't surfaced near the beach.
Sheboygan Fire officials and police were dispatched to the scene along with the Sheboygan County Sheriff’s officials, the Sheboygan County Dive Team and the United States Coast Guard.
Police spotted the boy in the water, approximately 40 yards from the shore, in approximately five feet of water, and removed him. CPR was then initiated.
The boy was taken to Sheboygan Memorial Hospital from the scene.
It is estimated he was under the water for approximately 10 minutes.
As of Tuesday afternoon, the child was listed in critical condition at Children's Hospital in Milwaukee.
Family members of the boy, who were also swimming Monday, said they too were struggling in the strong under tow. They said the boy had been swimming and began struggling after drifting into deeper water.
