14-year-old boy struck, injured by hit-and-run driver in Mount Pleasant
MOUNT PLEASANT -- Mount Pleasant police are looking for a driver who allegedly struck a 14-year-old boy Tuesday morning, December 22nd. It happened around 7 a.m. near STH 20/Washington Avenue and Oakes Road.
Police say the 14-year-old boy was crossing STH 20 southbound through stopped traffic. The suspect vehicle was traveling eastbound, passing vehicles on the right shoulder of STH 20/Washington Ave, when the boy was struck.
The suspect stopped briefly, got out of his vehicle and checked on the boy, before leaving the scene.
The suspect vehicle was described as a teal colored late 90s four-door vehicle. The suspect was described as a black male in his late 30s or early 40s.
The boy is being treated at Wheaton Franciscan hospital. He is expected to be OK.
