18 drunk drivers arrested in holiday enforcement initiative

MILWAUKEE -- There were extra law enforcement patrols in Milwaukee County from Monday, December 31st through Tuesday, January 1st. That extra enforcement resulted in the arrest of 18 drunk drivers.

In one incident, a 22-year-old man was tased by police early Tuesday morning, January 1st after a physical altercation with a deputy. Police say the incident occurred after an on-duty deputy pulled-over to assist the 22-year-old driver, who was in a disabled vehicle on I-43 near Capitol Dr.

Authorities say after a brief conversation between the deputy and the 22-year-old driver, the driver became uncooperative and started a physical altercation. The officer called for backup and then tased the man while awaiting assistance.

Authorities say the 22-year-old man originally gave officers a fake name. When police discovered the man’s real identity they found a warrant out for his arrest.

In another incident, 22-year-old Jacob Fimreite of Wauwatosa was arrested Tuesday morning, January 1st for driving under the influence — second offense. Feimreite is the first repeat offender drunken driver of the New Year.

The Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office says Fimreite was arrested at 4:08 a.m. after being pulled over for lane deviation on northbound Highway 100, just north of I-94.

Femreite blew a .14 on the PBT and was booked at the County Correctional Facility – Central Jail for driving under the influence — his second offense. Femreite faces a penalty of up to six months in jail.

More than 40 law enforcement officers were involved in the New Year's enforcement initiative.
