WASHINGTON CO. -- Washington County officials are investigating a fatal accident that happened on Orchard Valley Rd. in the Town of Farmington Thursday evening.
The two-vehicle wreck happened around 8:20 p.m. just south of County Highway H.
One of the drivers, a 19-year-old Moises Castaneda of Kewaskum, died on the scene.
The second vehicle was driven by a 43-year-old Town of Farmington woman. She and her three children, ages 13, 10, and 8 were all transported via ambulance to St. Joseph’s Hospital in the Town of Polk with non-life threatening injuries.
A preliminary investigation into the cause of the accident suggests Castaneda had been northbound on Orchard Valley Rd. when he unsuccessfully tried to pass another northbound vehicle. In the process, his vehicle careened directly into the path of the southbound vehicle driven by the Farmington woman.
Preliminary information suggests that alcohol did not appear to be a contributing factor.
