2-seat private plane runs into grass at end of runway at Mitchell International Airport

MILWAUKEE -- Officials with Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport say a two-seat private plane landed "long" on a runway -- and ran into the grass at the end of that runway.

There were no injuries as a result of this incident -- and it is not clear when the plane will be removed from the grassy area.

Airport officials say this incident had little impact on airport operations. Although they did say two Southwest Airlines passenger jets had to be diverted from Midway Airport in Chicago while this situation was dealt with. Those planes were expected to return to Mitchell.
