20,000 toys collected: Kapko's Kids 2 Kids event is "more than just a standard toy drive"
MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Nearly 20,000 toys were donated for kids today. It's all part of Kapco's Kids 2 Kids toy drive.
Saturday morning, hundreds of families came together to donate gifts.
Also part of the festivities were live reindeer, wagon rides and caroling.
But there's something that sets Saturday's toy drive apart from others this season.
"This is more than just a standard toy drive. This is really centered around children and kids. Kids making a difference for other kids," said Kapko President, Jim Kacmarcik.
That's because a large portion of the gifts were donated by kids themselves.
The president also said kids were taking over many of the roles at the toy drive that adults used to do.
They expect to send out around 20,000 toys to kids across southeastern Wisconsin.
