Susan G. Komen More Than Pink Walk at Henry Maier Festival Park

MILWAUKEE - The Susan G. Komen More Than Pink Walk is one of the charity's biggest fundraisers, and thousands of people dressed in pink to participate.

"I think it's worth it," said breast cancer survivor Linda Hohler.

Hohler is a 12-year breast cancer survivor. She said her family walks in the More Than Pink Walk each year.

"I get very emotional," said Linda Hohler. "They have been my best supporters all along."

"My mom is my biggest hero, so being able to support her for the 12+ years in her journey has just been incredible," said Brittany Hohler.

"Went to every chemo appointment with her," said Patricia Browning. "Never missed one. She's just she's my best friend."

Testimonies like Hohler's help fuel the walk and highlight the fundraiser's fight to find a cure.

"We love the color pink. It is my favorite color, and I have a wardrobe of pink, but people just think breast cancer, pink, but we are more than that," said Susan G. Komen Executive Director Nikki Panico. "We are research. We are care of your community, and we are action."

Money raised at the event stays in southeast Wisconsin, funding groundbreaking resurgence and financial assistance for women diagnosed.

"We are trying to change public policy in our capital, and all of these funds help us do that," said Panico.

Those walking for the cause can feel the impact of their community every step of the way.

"It's been awesome to come support," said Kody Nelson, a family supporter.

The walk raised nearly half a million dollars.
