26-year-old Mount Pleasant man arrested for marijuana possession, resisting arrest
MOUNT PLEASANT (WITI) -- A 26-year-old Mount Pleasant man was taken into custody Thursday, December 4th for possession of marijuana and resisting arrest.
According to authorities, officers observed a suspicious vehicle parked in the area of Howe and 23rd around 1 p.m.
At that time, the officer stopped and spoke with the two occupants of the vehicle. While doing so, the officer could smell an odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle. While the officer was waiting for a back-up officer to arrive, the male passenger got out of the vehicle and fled on foot. The officer pursued the suspect on foot. He was taken into custody after being tased.
A large bag of marijuana and a large amount of cash was found on the suspect. South Shore Rescue was called, although the suspect reported no injuries.
The suspect was transported to the Racine County Jail and was held on the following charges: possession with intent, resisting arrest, bail Jumping (misdemeanor), three counts of bail jumping (felony).
The second occupant, a 27-year-old Racine man, was not charged.
