34-year-old Racine man arrested and charged following police pursuit in Mount Pleasant
MOUNT PLEASANT (WITI) -- Mount Pleasant police say a 34-year-old Racine man was arrested after a pursuit that began when police tried to stop his vehicle for a registration suspension.
It happened Monday, May 25th just after 8:30 p.m.
The driver, 34-year-old Arlance Triplett, was headed east on Durand Avenue from State Highway 31 and refused to pull over while a Mount Pleasant squad was following him with the emergency lights and siren activated. Triplett continued east on Durand Avenue at speeds of approximately 65 miles-per-hour and eventually threw something from the window of the car.
Police say Triplett ran several red traffic signals and almost collided with another motorist.
He did finally stop in front of 2301 S. Memorial Drive because of mechanical failure. He was then taken into custody without incident.
Police learned Triplett had thrown a backpack from the vehicle. The backpack was recovered, and found to contain a scale, empty clear plastic sandwich baggies, two plastic baggies containing marijuana as well as two baggies containing cocaine.
