50-year-old West Bend man flown to the hospital after crash involving his motorcycle in Kewaskum

WASHINGTON COUNTY -- Washington County Sheriff's officials say a 50-year-old West Bend man had to be taken to the hospital via Flight for Life after a motorcycle crash on County Highway H at State Highway 144 in Kewaskum.

It happened on Saturday night, October 3rd around 11:30.

Sheriff's officials say upon arrival at the scene, deputies located the motorcycle's operator, a 50-year-old West Bend man, with serious injuries.

The man was unconscious but breathing -- and officials found he wasn't wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Deputies made contact with two witnesses -- who were in a vehicle headed southbound on State Highway 144.

Witness statements and evidence at the scene indicated the motorcycle was headed westbound on County Highway H when it failed to stop for a stop sign at State Highway 114. As the motorcycle approached the intersection, Sheriff's officials say it crossed over the centerline -- entering the ditch on the south side of County Highway H.

The West Bend man was ejected from the motorcycle -- and the man and the bike continued across State Highway 144 -- coming to rest southwest of the intersection.

Sheriff's officials say deputies detected the odor of intoxicants on the motorcyclist.

Boltonville Fire and first responders, Kewaskum Rescue and West Bend Intercept responded to the scene.

The West Bend man was flown to Froedtert Hospital for treatment.

This accident remains under investigation by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
