75-year-old motorcyclist seriously injured in crash involving vehicle in Town of Erin
TOWN OF ERIN -- Washington County Sheriff's officials say a 75-year-old man was seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash that occurred Tuesday afternoon, June 16th in the Town of Erin.
It happened shortly before 2:00 p.m. on State Highway 83, approximately .2 miles north of County Line Road in the Town of Erin.
An on-scene investigation revealed the following:
An antique automobile, operated by a 61-year-old Sussex man, was northbound on State Highway 83 from County Line Road. A motorcycle, operated by a 75-year-old Town of West Bend man, was also northbound travelling behind the automobile.
When the operator of the automobile initiated a right hand turn into a private driveway, the motorcycle rear-ended the automobile, ejecting the operator.
The motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet, and was transported from the scene to Aurora Summit via Flight for Life. His injuries are believed to be life-threatening.
The operator of the automobile was not injured.
State Highway 83 between County Line Road and County Highway Q was closed for approximately 1.5 hours to facilitate rescue, investigative and clean-up efforts.
At this time, neither alcohol nor speed appear to be contributing factors. However, the crash remains under investigation by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
