77-year-old Jefferson woman killed following Dodge County crash

DODGE COUNTY (WITI) -- Dodge County Sheriff's officials say a 77-year-old Jefferson woman died as a result of injuries suffered in a crash on Sunday morning, January 19th.

Sheriff's officials say it happened around 9:00 a.m. on County M, near County J in the Township of Clyman.

A preliminary investigation indicates a vehicle was headed north on County M when the driver, a 77-year-old Jefferson man, lost control on snow covered and slippery roads and slid off the road.

Sheriff's officials say the vehicle struck the railroad signal gate crossing just south of County J.

The driver was taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

The passenger was taken to the hospital via Flight for Life, where she succumbed to her injuries.

Names of those involved are being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The crash remains under investigation.
