9 sex offenders arrested for violations during Trick-or-Treating, "If they're compliant, we move on"
MILWAUKEE -- "Trick-or-Treat." They're three words registered sex offenders should not be hearing on, or leading up to Halloween. Sex offenders are not allowed to take part in Trick-or-Treating activities -- and officials with the Department of Corrections were out on Sunday, October 30th making sure offenders played by the rules.
"They have to be in the house one hour prior to Trick-or-Treating starting and they have to remain there one hour when it ends. Everyone should be there -- but we`ll see," Michelle Harings with the DOC said.

The team of parole officers and US Marshals headed out Sunday with a list of registered sex offenders in hand.
FOX6 was on hand for these Trick-or-Treat checks.
"We`re just looking around to make sure there`s no clear violations of supervision," Harings said.

Registered sex offenders are not allowed to display Halloween decorations. They cannot wear costumes, or hand out candy. Their porch lights must be turned off during Trick-or-Treating.

"If they`re compliant, we move on to the next visit," Harings said.

If they violations were found, they would be taken into custody.
Nine sex offenders were arrested for violations on Sunday.
Officials encouraged parents to check the Sex Offender Registry before heading out.
