Taylor and two other teens were heading to an end-of-the-year softball banquet when the crash happened on Wednesday, June 15th.

It's a sad day for the Union Grove community. More than 100 people turned out at the Union Grove Baseball Park Trail to remember the much loved softball player.

"Her first love was softball, you know, she played summer league, she played high school league, she played travel teams, she played tournaments," said Deb Redell, family friend.

This past Wednesday, on the way to the end-of-the-season banquet for her high school team, tragedy struck.

Authorities say a 58-year-old man failed to yield the right of way from a stop sign, crashing into the car carrying Taylor and two of her teammates.

Taylor later died from her injuries.

The other two girls survived. They joined the crowd that came to remember Taylor ,at the vigil held Saturday evening.

"It's a grieving process. It's going to take a while but you know we'll get through it," said Pete Skendziel, Taylor's uncle.

Even as the community is broken-hearted, they stand together to bear their grief -- many wearing shirts with Taylor's #36 and the saying, "Angel on the Diamond."

Taylor's family and friends will say their final goodbyes next Friday and Saturday. That's when her visitation and funeral are scheduled.

A family friend tells FOX6 News, Taylor had dreamed of becoming a neonatal nurse. She says after Taylor's death, her family donated her organs because it's what she would have wanted.
