"A new entrance to the city:" Bucks president talks a bright future for the team with new arena

MILWAUKEE -- As the Milwaukee Bucks prepared for the NBA Draft, the team's president sat down with community members at a luncheon Thursday, June 23rd to talk about the new arena and how it plays into the team's plans for a successful future.

"In 24 months, we will have a new entrance to the City of Milwaukee," said Milwaukee Bucks President Peter Feigin.

It's an investment the team's front office is hoping pays off in a big way, for both the team and the city it calls home.

"You talk about like, what the significance of that is, it's a big significance. I mean, just pride of ownership, just literally setting the tone for what our city represents and how great this city is -- to go in will be a big difference and that has not existed for almost 20 years," said Feigin.

Feigin outlined the team's hope for the project in a WisPolitics luncheon at the Medical College of Wisconsin. That  includes spurring needed growth in the community's economy and attracting business to the arena district. But there is the question: how much can a new arena accomplish without winning a home team?

"Our key now is to build a very successful plan, execute it, and a vision that will be successful without a championship -- but boy, if there's a championship you have, you have hit it," said Feigin.

It's a future the Bucks could start building with the NBA Draft. The team has the #10 pick.
