Abele to meet with Deputy Secretary of Transportation in D.C.
MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele says Wisconsin should get a bigger share of federal money. Abele left Sunday for Washington D.C. to try to make that happen.
Abele says he'll meet with the Deputy Secretary of Transportation John Porcari, adding that there's a chance President Obama will drop by for part of the meeting.
Abele points to the $2 billion I-94 project as one reason for the state to get more federal transportation money. Abele says he also hopes to keep funding where it is for the transit system.
"The transit part of it has been on everybody's mind. Transit funding has been getting cut all over the place, and we're concerned about some of the ideas floating around Congress," Abele said.
Abele is referring to a House bill that would change the source of funding for public transportation. CLICK HERE for additional details on this bill.
